Rotating or flipping your mattress regularly can be influential in the lifespan and overall comfort of your mattress over time! While not every mattress if flippable, most mattresses you can rotate occasionally. So how often should you rotate a mattress or flip your mattress? Let’s go over some specifics so you can continue your journey of great sleep. The KF sleep experts are here to help you understand how often you should rotate your mattress.

What Mattresses Need to be Rotated?

With so many different styles and designs of mattresses, it’s hard to know which ones should be flipped and rotated. At Kloter Farms, we have a variety of pillow top, memory foam, innerspring, latex, and organic mattresses. Depending on your specific mattress, you’ll have to flip or rotate it! Most mattress should not be flipped unless stated as such by the manufacturer. Flippable mattresses by Kloter Farms include: elite mattress series, resilience premier mattress series, elite premier pillow top mattress series, elite luxe plush mattress series.

These days, most mattresses are designed intentionally to be one sided. With a plush pillow top support, flipping your mattress to the other side would be uncomfortable. Single sided mattresses should be rotated, not flipped. A double sided mattress can be flipped, which disperses the usual wear over time, sometimes making your mattress quality last a year or more longer!

Flipping and rotating your mattress helps a mattress keep its stability and push cushioning without wearing as quickly. This will help you have a neutral spine alignment, making for a better night’s sleep and a healthier life.

How Often Should You Rotate Your Mattress?

How often should you rotate your mattress? This all comes down to the style of mattress you own.  A memory foam or latex mattress will need to be rotated 1 or 2 times a year. Same with an innerspring mattress, once or twice a year will do the trick.

While mattresses are plush, they can be quiet heavy and awkward to move. It is best to have a friend help flip and rotate your heavier mattresses for a seamless changeover with minimal frustration. Plus, lending a helping hand – that’s what friends are for!

Plan your flips and rotations in advance, rotating and flipping 1-2 times per year. How often to rotate mattress can depend on usage as well. A guest bedroom mattress which gets less use may need to be rotated and flipped less than the mattress you sleep on nightly.
