The Ultimate DIY He Shed Transformation
We are pleased to present you with our version of a He Shed. Not sure what that is? Think ‘Man Cave’ – evolved. Last year we built a She Shed (click here to see), and now we decided it was time to turn the tables. It’s the ultimate DIY shed transformation.
Everyone needs a place to rest, relax and refresh.
While the title may imply that this shed is only for men, it can actually be created to entertain both men and women. The decision is up to you – how you want to create yours.
Ours was inspired by The Red Shed – an amazing shed transformation by homeowners Vinnie and Beth of Kensington, CT. After purchasing their first shed at Kloter Farms and transforming it into a backyard hangout pub shed they contacted us to share their story. (check out their story)
What makes the Kloter Farms He Shed special? It’s all in the details. You see, from the exterior, it’s just a shed, but the moment you see the door crack open, you realize that it’s not at all what you expected. The details are bold for contrast, yet intentionally simple for a clean and elegant look.
The creative use of wood, metal and glass offers a rugged warmth that is welcoming to all.
The doors are lined with upcycled pallets in a chevron pattern. They have been burnished, distressed and wire brushed to enhance the wood grain and character of the wood. The general space is defined by a bar, a booth, and some comfortably inviting swivel barrel chairs.
The custom stone-front bar is topped with a 6-year aged oak wood slab with a live edge. It’s been carefully transformed into a piece of art that blends perfectly with the side and rear counters (made from Chestnut stained quarter-sawn oak.)
As you begin to take it all in, you notice that the rear wall is covered in authentic, weathered New England barn board. As you glance upward, you see the ceiling treatment is a corrugated tin that has been painted with hammered copper paint. Warm light is cast by mason jar pendant lighting and vintage bulbs.
The collection of industrial textures is intriguing and welcoming. The booth in the corner is perfect for an adult game of cards or for a pack of kids to hang out. The burnished benches are designed with cubby storage and upholstered with faux ostrich skin cushions. The stainless steel tabletop is surfaced with a brushed scalloped pattern and supported with exposed pipe fittings.
No matter what your style, Kloter Farms is in the shed business, and we can provide you with a shell structure of nearly any size.
